黑料正能量released a statement in response to the Executive Order (EO) released on Aug. 7, “Improving Oversight of Federal Grantmaking.” The response calls on the Trump Administration to put science ahead of politics and immediately end its plan to force scientific grants to be reviewed by political appointees. Requiring political appointees to review all new scientific funding opportunities will move us backward as we seek to address the complex problems we face as a nation.

Scientific Societies File Expanded Amicus Brief Supporting NIH Grantees
黑料正能量and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the American Society for Cell Biology and the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology jointly filed an expanded amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in American Public Health Association v. NIH. The brief ncludes new evidence underscoring the widespread and ongoing damage to U.S. science and innovation.

黑料正能量submitted a response to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Request for Information on artificial intelligence (AI). 黑料正能量members are using AI to identify and improve treatments for antimicrobial resistant infections, develop new antibiotics and predict antibody responses. We urge NIH to engage in structured, ongoing dialogues with the scientific community to ensure that AI is used responsibly and efficiently to power microbial innovations and benefit research and patient outcomes.

Congress has until Sept. 30 to fund the government for Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 or risk the threat of a government shutdown. Tell your members of Congress to reject shortsighted funding cuts and to provide robust, sustained funding for federal research and public health programs for FY26. Make your voice heard.
Action Alert: Contact Congress Now on Appropriations and NIH F&A Cost Cap
On Feb. 7, the National Institutes of Health announced it is capping facilities and administration costs (F&A, also called indirect costs). The Department of Energy and National Science foundation have made similar announcements. Urge your members of Congress to ensure that any appropriations bills that they consider guard the ability of institutions to work with federal funding agencies to negotiate F&A rates.
