Jennifer Díaz Rivera, Ph.D., is a microbiologist from Puerto Rico specializing in oral microbiology, immunology and cancer research. Rivera earned her Ph.D. in microbiology with a focus on cancer immunology at the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus and Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her doctoral studies examined how the oral microbiota affects immunotherapy responses in preclinical models of oropharyngeal carcinoma. Recently, she served as a research specialist at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Adams School of Dentistry, where she concentrated on biofilm formation and bacterial interactions related to oral health. Rivera is passionate about translational microbiology, mentoring future scientists and sharing research highlighting how laboratory findings can impact public health.
