ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿To Host Global Research Symposium in Beijing

July 22, 2024

Washington, D.C.—Beijing—The ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ (ASM) has announced its first-ever Global Research Symposium on Microbes in Human Health, hosted in partnership with Tsinghua University. This landmark meeting will serve as a forum for scientists from around the world to share knowledge about how microbes can shape the future of human health. The Tsinghua-ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿Symposium on Microbes and Human Health will be held at Tsinghua University Campus in Beijing on Sept. 25-27, 2024, and is free to attend.

Microbial disease is a global public health threat that affects every human around the world. It will remain a public health threat with local and global consequences until all countries are empowered to establish reliable and sustainable interventions.

“By partnering with one of the top institutions in China, Tsinghua University, the ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿Global Research Symposium will foster knowledge exchange and catalyze further international interactions among microbiologists,” said Anirban Mahapatra, Ph.D., Editorial Director, ASM. “These goals align with ASM’s strategy of becoming a globally focused organization that ensures the societal impact of microbial sciences.”

The output of scientific research in the microbial sciences from China now exceeds that from every other country in the world. ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿Journals receive more submissions from China than any other country. In 2023 alone, ASM’s journals published over 1,400 articles with corresponding authors based in China.

“We are proud to host leading experts in human interactions with microbes at Tsinghua University. International partnerships, like the one Tsinghua has built with ASM, aim to strengthen global research to understand and reshape human relationships with the microbial world and the future of human health,” said Jing-Ren Zhang, Ph.D., professor and Director of the Tsinghua University Center for Infection Biology.

The ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿Global Research Symposium demonstrates ASM’s commitment to convene global leaders across disciplines and give them resources and a platform to solve pressing global health challenges. ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿recognizes the critical need to work together to build sustainable interventions that can make a meaningful impact in the world.

Attendance is free, but space is limited. Registration for the ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿Global Research Symposium closed on Sept. 6.

The Tsinghua-ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿Symposium on Microbes in Human Health 2024 has concluded.
