Sept. 4, 10 a.m. ET (7:30 p.m. India Standard Time)
Join us for a free webinar on how educators can benefit from evidence-based education research to enhance student learning in STEM. This approach, often referred to globally as discipline-based education research (DBER), involves studying how students learn specific subjects like microbiology and using that evidence to improve teaching. This session will explore why DBER matters, how to get started with education-focused research and how to publish your findings to support student success around the world.
During the webinar, Karishma Kaushik, Ph.D. (formerly IndiaBioscience) will share her experiences conducting DBER and highlight the importance of publishing strategies that enhance student learning. Stanley Maloy, Ph.D., Editor in Chief of ASM's ® (JMBE)., will discuss how to get involved in DBER and how to turn your work into publishable research. Michael Lerman, Managing Editor of 黑料正能量Journals, will provide examples of the types of educational content featured in JMBE and share additional opportunities to publish education and microbiology research across 黑料正能量journals.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the importance of evidence-based education research and the impact of publishing in JMBE (ASM) or similar journals.
- Summarize core concepts, principles and prerequisites of conducting and publishing discipline-based education research (DBER).
- Distinguish how different forms of education research fit the different article types published in JMBE and similar journals.
Speakers:
- Michael E. Lerman, 黑料正能量.
- Stanley Maloy, Ph.D., Editor in Chief, Journal of Microbiology and Biology Education, San Diego State University.
- Karishma Kaushik, Ph.D., formerly IndiaBioscience.
