黑料正能量

The Biotechnology Revolution Powered by Microbes

Welcome to the ASM-SIAT Symposium on Microbes in Biotechnology, hosted in partnership with the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Following a successful inaugural event at Tsinghua University in 2024, this next event represents a landmark convergence in advancing the biotechnology revolution. The symposium will take place from Nov. 18-21, 2025, at the Cloud Park International Conference Center (光明天安云谷国际会议中心), in Shenzhen, China. At the intersection of artificial intelligence, synthetic biology, microbiome research and ecological microbiology, the symposium will explore how microbes are transforming biomanufacturing, creating sustainable alternatives to petrochemicals and revolutionizing our approach to global challenges, including climate change and human health.

Conference Dates: Nov. 18-21, 2025

About the Global Research Symposium

Microbes are the ultimate biological factories, and we're learning to program them. As nature's most versatile engineers, microbes are being redesigned through synthetic biology and AI-driven approaches to produce everything from life-saving drugs to sustainable materials. At the same time, insights from microbiome and ecological research are opening new frontiers for biotechnology applications, from health to environmental remediation.

The 2025 黑料正能量Global Research Symposium in China will bring together experts to present groundbreaking research focused on artificial intelligence in microbiology, synthetic biology, applied microbial ecosystems, metabolic engineering and the bioeconomy. This unique symposium features sessions that span from computational prediction of metabolic pathways and microbiome function to bioproduction, reflecting the full pipeline of modern biotechnology innovation. The symposium aims to forge new collaborations between China's rapidly expanding synthetic biology sector and the global research community, positioning Shenzhen as a hub for the next generation of biotechnology breakthroughs.

The Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) was established in February 2006 and is one of the youngest institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. SIAT focuses on the multidisciplinary integration and development of Information Technology and Biotechnology (IT+BT). One major research area at SIAT is synthetic biology, which is largely rooted in applied microbiology, metabolic engineering and microbial ecology. Using cutting-edge technologies of synthetic biology, microorganisms are reprogrammed to produce valuable natural or non-natural products or to transform into "living" functional materials. Synthetic microbial communities are rationally designed and modulated for applications in precision medicine and sustainable agriculture. By combining high-throughput bio-infrastructure with AI-driven design, SIAT is committed to enhancing the innovation capacity of manufacturing and service industries and promoting the development of emerging industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
